The Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform, Gugile Nkwinti, has called for a mediated solution to settle a dispute between a North West tribe and their chief over who should manage their land.
Traditional leader of the Bakgatla ba Kgafela tribe in the North West Kgosi John Pilane wants the community to be allowed to reconsider how their land should be managed.
Land was returned to the community after they were dispossessed by apartheid era laws. The community chose a Community Property Association (CPA) to administer the land.
