Farmers reject ANC policy on 50% equity for farm workers

The majority of the country’s farmers reject “in entirety” a policy adopted by the ANC at its national general council meeting at the weekend that farm owners must give half of their equity to farm workers‚ the farmers’ representative organisation TAU SA said on Monday.

TAU SA president Louis Meintjies said he had recently returned from an information tour of farming communities in Gauteng‚ North West‚ the Free State and Kwazulu-Natal and the farmers he had met stood strong on the principles of a free market and private ownership.
