The Rural Development and Land Reform Department has urged the Khoisan community to lodge land claims like everybody else. This follows claims made by the Khoisan that their land has been taken away in violation of their human rights.

They made the allegations during the Human Rights Commission hearings into alleged human rights violations of South African indigenous Khoisan communities held in Johannesburg.
