Half a century ago, South Africa’s apartheid regime declared Cape Town’s District Six a white-only area and its multiracial community was forcefully dismantled. Efforts to rebuild it have been painfully slow.
Noor Ebrahim used to live in Cape Town’s District Six. He remembers the day the bulldozers came.
“I was standing right there when they demolished my home in front of me,” he told DW.
