“The protest against the Xolobeni dune mining project, organised by the ‘Abahlali baseZilalini’ in Mbizana recently, appears to have triggered a violent reaction.
‘Abahlali baseZilalini’ is an Eastern Cape faction of the militant. Durban-based Abahlali baseMjondolo, which fights for the rights of the poor. The recent protest was in support of the anti-mining faction opposing the Xolobeni Heavy Mineral project. Transworld Energy and Minerals (TEM), a South African subsidiary of an Australian company, Mineral Commodities, is the company that is involved in this project.” – South Coast Herald
