“SA government’s land reform policies ‘could lead to more poverty’ ” – The South African

“This is the warning by John Kane-Berman, a policy fellow at the Institute for Race Relation (IRR), in a policy bulletin published this week. He warns that fundamental changes to the government’s land policy are needed to prevent the further undermining of agricultural output.

Kane-Birman says changes to land policy should include “embracing the private sector as allies, and building on some of the success stories among small farmers. In essence, policy should focus not on land but on farming. Instead of redistributing more land, land currently under-utilised should be brought into full production… ” – The South African
